My recruitment career began in Los Angeles working for a large competitor of Randstad. I worked at this firm for a year where I learned the basics of contract recruitment.
After relocating to Hong Kong, I met several “Randstadians” at a charity event. Having gone through the interview process and meeting with a number of members in the business, I joined as a consultant in the IT contracting space. Since then, I have been promoted to senior consultant and have attended numerous training programs such as the senior consultant training where Keith Fitzgerald, UN advisor on crisis negotiations led a simulated siege scenario and workshop on negotiations. Randstad is truly a company that goes out of the box to find ways to motivate and develop its staff.
It has not come without its challenges, such as learning how to deal with new cultures in the workplace, taking basic Chinese language classes to better communicate with clients and candidates, or learning the ABC’s of doing business in Asia. The leadership team at Randstad have helped support me in all facets of my time in Hong Kong, both professionally and personally.
